The brief for this project was to design a unique lighting product. I have always enjoyed creating products that move and transform, so I used the opportunity to explore how a portable camping lamp could change shape to improve both functionality and user interaction.
Inspired by origami structures, the lamp expands and contracts through a folding paper form, allowing it to remain compact for transport while creating a larger illuminated volume when in use. The project combined material experimentation, CAD development, 3D printing, and prototype assembly to develop a functional working concept with integrated lighting and magnetic closure mechanisms.
